If you are from a country not belonging to the EU or EEA and wish to study in the Netherlands, you’ll need to go through the Dutch immigration procedures. Depending on what you are going to do and for how long you are staying, you might need:
- A short-stay visa
- An authorization for temporary stay
- A residence permit
- A work permit
The website of NUFFIC can help you to find out which procedures are important for international students.
In case you are already in the Netherlands, we need to check the status of that permit and see what actions are required.
Procedures related to your entry visa and residence permit will be discussed with students who are accepted as a student of Aeres University of Applied Sciences.
A procedure will be started in our application portal where the student has to answer some questions to make sure they receive the right application for them. In most cases a study residence permit is required. The student will need to fill out some documents and transfer proof of sufficient financial means. More information.
Aeres UAS cannot and will not support visa for family members of students. Applying for one is not recommended due to the requirements and study period.
Working while studying
NON-EU students, NON-EEA students and students of Croatia need a work permit if they want to work in the Netherlands. This can never exceed 16 hours of work per week, due to work permit restrictions.

Orientation year visa
If you study on a study residence permit and graduate for a Bachelor or Master degree, you can apply for an orientation year visa.
