Dr. Sander Bliekendaal works on promoting health and safety in sports and exercise. He researches, among other things, how the home environment influences our exercise behaviour. His specific interest lies in exercising and playing sports (safely) in public areas.

Sander has a background in movement sciences and physical education, and obtained his doctorate at the VUmc. His graduation research focused on the development of knowledge on the cause and prevention of sports injuries. Since September of 2021, Sander works for Aeres as a teacher and researcher.
