Michiel Klaassen works as a project manager, researcher and teacher in the field of green raw materials in circular production chains. He helps businesses and other organisations in closing cycles, valorising (organic) raw materials (e.g. proteins and minerals in waste streams) and reducing emissions. He translates requests from the field of practice and from consortiums into propositions for projects, and applies to subsidy providers for finance.

Michiel also coaches bachelor’s and master’s students in projects through graduation projects and internships. He publishes for various media, including trade magazines and science magazines. In his former job as an adviser for a communications and advisory agency Schuttelaar & Partners, he worked on the themes of sustainable agriculture and organic raw materials. He obtained his doctorate at the Plant Breeding department of Wageningen UR, where he also did the Plant Sciences bachelor’s and master’s programmes.
