With 1.2%, the unemployment rate among graduates from Aeres University of Applied Sciences is very low. Graduates are very satisfied with their education programmes and how these match with their current jobs. This was shown by figures from the HBO Monitor 2017, published yesterday. In addition, there is a great demand in the sector for higher education graduates as subject specialist teachers in professional education and in the agribusiness.
This great demand is also evidenced by the fact that many students are approached by prospective employers in the final year of their studies. All of this offers good perspectives for students who want to do a green higher education course. In particular the horticultural and the pig and poultry farming sectors are waiting anxiously for green professional education graduates. Graduated teachers find jobs at their level even more quickly (approximately 95% finds a job within three months).
The results come from the HBO Monitor 2017, an annual survey on the labour market position of higher professional education graduates. Nearly 24,500 graduates participated in this labour market survey. The main conclusion from the report is that higher professional education graduates do well on the labour market and the quality of their education provides a good match with the job requirements.
With 86%, the match between education and the labour market is the best of all green schools of higher professional education for graduates from Aeres University of Applied Sciences (with faculties in Almere, Dronten and Wageningen). Within the group of green schools of higher professional education, Aeres University of Applied Sciences also has the lowest unemployment rate.
Both within the agrofood and the education sector, graduates find jobs that match their own field and their higher education level.
Graduates from the Wageningen faculty, the largest training facility for specialist teachers in higher professional education in the Netherlands, have no reason to complain about their labour market situation. The institute is very successful in preparing its students for their future careers. During their entire study programme, students learn and work in close cooperation with professional practice and therefore quickly find jobs at the right level after graduation.
Rieke de Vlieger, director of Aeres University of Applied Sciences, is very pleased with the results from the HBO Monitor. “I am proud that we are at the top as a green school of higher professional education and that we have achieved the lowest unemployment rate among our graduates. 84% of the graduates would choose the same study programme again, and 86% states that their current job matches the study programme that they have completed. It shows that we are on the right track.”
