Plant Production

This 3-semester programme will provide you with a comprehensive knowledge of plant production, including first-hand knowledge of practices in the Netherlands, one of the leading countries in horticulture and plant breeding in the EU. The programme will take root at Aeres UAS in Dronten (the Netherlands) with excursions to horticultural companies, training in entrepreneurial and innovation competencies and lectures on High tech plant production systems, product quality and crop management.

In the second semester, at Groupe ESA in Angers, France, you will be attending lectures on genotyping, genetics, crop protection and plant pathology, and going on excursions to various companies in the region.

Finally, in the third semester, a full-time traineeship during a company placement and an Ingenieur thesis will require of you to ‘eat your greens’, so to speak, i.e. really get to work. However, this preparation for your career in horticulture will certainly be worth your while.

• Completion of BTS, DUT, HND or Licence 2 or at least two years of a university programme in a related subject relevant to the study programme (in accordance with 120 ECTS). 
• A minimum score of 550 in the TOEFL English test or a formally recognized equivalent, such as the IELTS (level 6.0) or IBT (79).
• The ability to formulate coherently in written English, and to have a vision of plant production. Essay writing is part of the admission procedure.
• Strong motivation for success in the sector.
• Team spirit and a flexible attitude in an international working environment.
• Admission to Groupe ESA and Aeres University of Applied Sciences.
• Tuition fees have been paid to Groupe ESA and Aeres University of Applied Sciences.
• Sufficient knowledge of French (DEFL certificate) as the lessons during the semester in France are in French.

Plant Production is a double degree European Engineer’s Degree (EED) programme that we provide in collaboration with Groupe ESA in Angers, France. On successful completion of the programme, you will be rewarded with a double degree: a bachelor’s degree in  Horticulture and Arable Farming and a ‘Licence Professionelle Agronomie’. As a bachelor in Horticulture  and Arable Farming, you can further your studies in a master’s degree programme or you can look forward to a career as (for example):
