Trimester 1 in Dronten: Orientation and Chain Analysis

A set of two minors aimed at general management,advisory and research competencies:

Entrepreneurship and advice
This minor is designed to train students in entrepreneurship and advisory competencies. Students will be trained the necessary skills to become entrepreneur or advisor in animal production. Training of advisory skills will be done during the advisory training and farm visits. Next to the necessary professional skills students will be taught in applied knowledge about Agricultural policy, Business economics, Dairy nutrition, Animal health, Grassland management and Milking techniques.

Research, sales & marketing
This minor prepares students for employment in applied research in animal production and sales & marketing. Training of research skills will be done during research assignments at the university farm. Subjects to be studied are: Research methods for applied livestock research, Sales & marketing, Epidemiology and Poultry production.

Trimester 2 in Dronten: Specialisation in Animal production

In this minor you will specialize yourself in more depth in subjects related to animal production by writing and presenting an article for a magazine for a chosen subject. Courses included in this minor are: Animal nutrition, Animal health and welfare, Grassland management and Roughage production, Animal breeding and Pig production.


Trimester 3 in Angers: Courses

Team project, practical placement and specialisation courses. Also a farm placement is part of the programme.


The last half year of the programme:

Professional Training

This last half year of the programme consists of two larger units involving a full-time traineeship in a middle management position, and proof of scientific and academic expertise through conducting research, writing and defending an Ingenieur thesis relevant to the sector.

ECT system

All records of modules are administered according to the EC system. After one semester in a course, students’ progress and results are assessed in a meeting of the lecturers teaching and assessing the course. This meeting is meant to identify students with possible progress problems. At the end of the course , students’ progress and results are assessed again. The award of a degree or diploma and pertinent qualification follows the award of all course credits leading to that award.

Double degree

Aeres University of Applied Sciences and Groupe ESA offers a double degree European Engineer Degree programme (EED) for students in the livestock sector for successful carreer in one of the following profiles:

  • Consultant and advisor
  • Sales and account manager
  • Entrepreneurship and business management
  • Researcher livestock production
  • National or EU policy advisor

Successful graduates will be competent in the following areas of expertise:

  • Consultancy and advice on livestock production
  • Market development and marketing strategies for livestock products
  • Policy institutes at national and international level (EU)
  • Applied research livestock production
  • Entrepreneurship

Successful applicants for the 1.5 year Bachelor degree courses must have:

  • Completed BTS, DUT, HND or Licence 2 or at least three years of university study in agriculture or a related subject         
  • A minimum score of 550 in the TOEFL English test or a formally recognised equivalent such as the IELTS (level 6.0) or IBT (79)
  • The ability to formulate coherently in written English, and to have a vision of the chosen area of interest. Essay writing is part of the selection procedure
  • Strong motivation to be successful in the sector
  • Team spirit, a flexible attitude in an international working environment
  • Funding in the form of a grant or a stipend, or private means

How to apply

The application procedure consists of two steps. The first step is to complete the application form on our website and send in your CV and motivation letter, indicating which course you would like to apply for. Our application committee will inform you about the result. If you are eligible, the second step is an invitation for an intake interview and a paper-based English test or you can submit proof of English proficiency: TOEFL / IELTS.
