Each year is divided into two semesters where each semester consists of two modules. The first year is the foundation course during which you will take part in a broad program to become acquainted with the sector. In the second year, just as in the first year, the four modules are taught in the Netherlands. The last module of this year is a European placement. The third year will take place in Canada. In the final year you can choose two minors and further develop your profile. You will complete your study with a traineeship and a graduation assignment. Furthermore in this year you specialize in your own field of interest.

ECT system

All records of modules are administered according to the EC system. After one semester in a course, students’ progress and results are assessed in a meeting of the lecturers teaching and assessing the course. This meeting is meant to identify students with possible progress problems. At the end of the course , students’ progress and results are assessed again. The award of a degree or diploma and pertinent qualification follows the award of all course credits leading to that award.

The study begins with a study tour, for example in Scotland! During this study tour, the students from North America and Europe will meet each other for the first time. Here they will explore the food industry and will have an introduction in the world of International food business.

This Bachelor programme is offered by Aeres UAS and Dalhousie University, Faculty of Agriculture. You will have the unique opportunity to follow a study in an international class on two continents (dual degree). You will study for one year in Canada. During the first year you will study in the Netherlands together with the European students. In the second year, the Canadian students will join you. In the third year, the entire group will study in Canada. In the fourth year, you will complete your studies in the Netherlands with the option to do your thesis research at an internationally located company. The study language is English throughout the entire course.  English language skills are one of the requirements in the application procedure, however the first two years English language classes are part of the programme to further support non-native speakers developing their language skills.

Dalhousie University, Faculty of Agriculture

The partner university is located in Truro, a city with 12,000 inhabitants on the north coast of Nova Scotia, not far from Halifax. The campus is a small community with various facilities. Once you have completed your study you can go surfing on the beautiful coast or whale spotting! It’s a great place to study!
